Petta Reddast
Okay, so I’ve been
ruminating more than a
bit lately on 'petta reddast'
(tha-ta-reh-dst).
This is an Icelandic
phrase I’ve just
become aware of.
It has three
meaningful
translations.
One:
“It will all work
out okay.” or “It
will fix itself.”
Two:
A rallying cry of
optimism + hope (used
especially when
things
don’t look
optimistic).
Three:
A mind-set that
has faith in
good
outcomes + in the
future.
It’s obviously a
phrase
packed with
positivity.
And I’m inclined
to embrace all three.
So, when life gets tricky
with unwelcome realities.
Uncertain times.
“Bad news on the
doorstep.”
I’m leaning-into some
full-on petta
reddast!
