The Examined Life
Who would have thought
in 466 BCE, a Greek
philosopher named
Socrates would muse:
“The unexamined life
is not worth living.”
How poignant. How true.
How timely. How relevant.
Self-reflection helps us
assess our behaviors.
Because when we examine
our condition + scan
who we are, we can
review what we lack.
We can “check ourselves
before we wreck ourselves”
or others.
We can make the changes
that are necessary in
order to become better
than we are.
Only then will our
examined life bear fruit.
