Sunflower Reverence
Cortona, Italy was
especially hot this year.
So, she knew the sunflowers
would be in the same
position she saw them in
during her last trip.
They’d look like soldiers
lined-up together in solidarity.
But, they would have lost their
bright + beautiful Tuscan smiles.
The ones that beamed
to the heavens.
They wouldn’t be facing the sun
in unfailing allegiance now.
No. Not now.
Instead - they’d all be charred
from the heat of their
unrelenting life.
Still, the position she
found them in
was one of reverence.
Their weary heads
we’re all bowed.
Charred, yet bowed.
They too seemed to understand
what it meant to honor their
Creator, come what may.
Especially after they were allowed
to bloom so gloriously for a time.
Sunflower reverence will
forever mover her.
always moves you?
I value you + your views,
so let’s communicate!
